Experiencing Christ in Word and Sacrament
The Bible --
We believe that the Bible is God's true and powerful Word and has no
errors. We confess that the Lutheran Book of Concord is a clear and true
exposition of God's Word. The Word of God is very relevant for life
today, and it takes precedence over all church traditions or human
opinions.
Worship --
We believe community worship should be relevant, touching the lives of
all participants. Worship should be authentic, a clear expression of
Christ coming to us in Word and Sacrament. Finally, we believe that
excellence in worship honors Christ and inspires people.
The Sacraments --
We believe that God's Sacraments are radical, life-changing events.
Through Holy Baptism we are filled with the Spirit. In the Lord's
Supper, Christ comes to us in His body and blood. These Sacraments are
God's powerful Means for changing us forever, filling us with His power,
and giving us forgiveness and new life.
Expressing Christ in Our Lives
God's Grace --
We believe that we can never earn God's acceptance. God our Father loves
us for who we are because of Jesus Christ. Therefore, the church should
never use guilt to motivate its members, but encourage everyone to live
and serve others out of thankfulness for Jesus and His love.
Families and Children --
We believe that our families should always be our first priority in life
after God. We strongly value all life, and we want to continue to build
and resource Christian families for growth and life changes. Members of
Christian families must have strong and healthy Christian relationships
with their own family members before they can effectively serve as
leaders in the church.
Balancing Creativity and Tradition --
We believe that God's Spirit fills us with His creative power, inspiring
us to reach out to others in new ways. We also believe that both our
traditional and contemporary services serve the people in our community
well. Therefore, we seek innovation and creativity in our lives and
worship that also continues to express the traditions and faith that we
treasure.
Expanding Christ's Kingdom on Earth
Everybody is Valuable --
We believe that everyone is valuable to God, even if they may not look
or act like us. Furthermore, each person has God-given gifts and talents
that they should be encouraged to use for building and edifying God's
Church.
Full Commitment to Christ --
We believe that full devotion to Christ and His cause is normal for
every believer. We hope and pray that all Christians become excited
about God's love for them and eager to share His love with others.
Evangelism --
We believe that evangelism, sharing the Good News about Jesus, is the
sacred privilege and duty of every Christian. We will look for new ways
to equip and encourage each other to bring the Gospel to our friends,
our families, and even our neighbors down the street.
